Theodor Kapnas

Theodor Kapnas (born July 21st 1989) is known as the guitarist and main songwriter for Faroese doom metal band Hamferð. He is also an active part of the Faroese music scene as an audio engineer as well as being member of the board of G! Festival and FFT(The Association of Faroese Composers).   Hamferð(formed 2008) has been one of the most successful bands from The Faroe Islands in recent years and is still on the rise. The band has released two albums, “Vilst er síðsta fet”(EP, 2010) and “Evst”(LP, 2013), both to critical acclaim. Both albums were produced and mixed by Theodor Kapnas.

  Hamferð has toured Europe several times and won the international final of “Wacken Metal Battle” in 2012, rejecting a record deal with record label Nuclear Blast in the process. The band also played a historical concert in the cathedral of Tórshavn, “Havnar Kirkja”, in January 2012.   In 2011 Theodor completed his Bachelor degree in “Music- And Sound Engineering” from Karlstads Universitet, Sweden. Since then he has been active on the Faroese music scene as engineer/producer in Studio Bloch, the premier recording studio in The Faroe Islands.
