Terji Rasmussen, born in Tórshavn 1966, is one of the most popular singers in the Faroese music scene.
At an early age he was a self tought guitarist of the garage band, Funkies, releasing two singles, the first in 1981 and the second in 1983.
Terji was one of the lead singers in the band, Frændur in the mid 80’s appearing on the 1986 album, Frændur “II” (two), which included the mega hit song, “Eros” written by Terji Rasmussen, and on Frændur “80’ini” (the 80’s), released in 1988.
He then formed his own band in the late 80’s, Terji & Føstufressar with a few of the guys from the band, Plúmm, such as, Leivur Thomsen – guitar, Magnus Johannesen – keyboards, Arnold Ludvig – bass and Rógvi á Rógvu – drums.
Terji & Føstufressar went on to record the first album, simply named “Terji & Føstufressar” with lyrics mainly by Anker Eli Petersen and compositions by Terji himself, which was released in 1990. This first album was extremely well received by the Faroese public. So well, that it was named “The Album Of The Millenium” in 2000 by the Faroese press.
Terji & Føstufressar is always a great attraction at big concerts and festivals in The Faroes, where the audiences sing along to nearly all of the songs.
Terji was one of the lead singers and song writers in the Faroese rock band, Moira, which was very active in the 90’s. Moira released two albums, “Moira” in 1996 and “Sangir Úr Náttini” in 1998. Anker Eli Petersen was one of the lyricists for Moira apart from the members of the band.
In 1999 he released an album with Eyðun Nolsøe from the band, Frændur, named “Eyðun og Terji”. This album was re-released in 2000 with more songs, named “Eitt Nummar Og Seytjan Onnur”, and they toured the Faroese for a few years after that with these songs and few hits from the past.
Terji & Føstufressar “Tvey”, the second album was released in 2010, and won the Planet Award for Best Album 2010.
