Ívar Bærentsen has lived for extensive periods in Denmark and the United States. For the past twenty years he has toured and recorded traditional fiddle/dance and maritime music with various bands in these three countries.
His first compositions were released in 1978 on Tutl Records. His songs “Aftan Á/Afterwards” with Spælimenninir on the “Umaftur” album and “Pøsta Verð” on the album “Jazz í Føroyum 2”. In 1980 his tune, “Maivalsurin” was released with Spælimenninir “Burturav” album and his “Dun Fudgin” was released on “Wild Asparagus” in 1987.
Ívar Bærentsen’s first solo CD ”Løtur” (Moments) is his most recent release. Ívar presents 14 original songs. The lyrics express philosophical and religious themes.
